Ecbolic A medicine that makes the uterus contract

E. coli A bacterium present in the intestines, which may become pathogenic

Electrocardiogram (E.C.G.) A record made by a electrocardiograph, of the hearts performance.

Electrolytes Salts, specifically ions. The term electrolyte means that this ion is electrically-charged and moves to either a negative (cathode) or positive (anode) electrode. Electrolyte substances are often used as transfusions in dehydrated animals.

Embolism A plug, usually a blood clot, blocking a blood vessel.

Emaciation Excessive thinness or wasting.

Endemic Usually applied to a disease which is present in an area at all times. Endemic is really a medical term and the veterinary term is Enzootic.

Endocrine glands Glands that secrete hormones into the blood.

Endoscope A device with a light attached, used to look inside a body cavity or organ.

Enterotomy An operation cutting into the intestines.
