Dew claw An extra claw is the rudimentary toe or hallux (corresponding to the big toe in man). It is located near the carpus or below the hock and is usually removed when puppies are a few days old.
Diathermy The destruction of tissue, usually to stop bleeding by using a high frequency electric current to generate heat.
Diuretic A medicine that removes water from the body by promoting urine formation and the loss of salt.
Dys– A prefix meaning difficult or painful e.g. Dystocia — difficult birth.
