09 May 2006 48% of Canadians 'believe in pet insurance'
Almost half of Canadians believe in the value pet insurance offers them, according to new research from The Iams Company. Taking the lead from Europe, where Iams states pet insurance is a common as home insurance or car insurance, Canadians now "expect to benefit from its protection", according to he new study.
Katherine Tremble-Taylor, pet business manager for Proctor & Gamble said that pet insurance can help people look after the overall wellbeing of their pet, reports the CNW Group.
"Beyond educating pet owners on the importance of proper nutrition, we also believe in supporting programs that enhance their overall health and wellness, including: identification programs that assist with pet recovery, pet insurance that helps owners manage unexpected veterinary expenses as well as, promotion of adequate exercise and training," she states.
Other results contained within the Canadian survey show that 98 per cent of respondents felt that their pet's nutrition was important.
The Iams Company provides a range of dietry products for dogs and cats and carries out a range of research activities and employs "biochemists, nutritionists, veterinarians, process engineers, food scientists, chemists, biologists and microbiologists".
