21 February 2006 Search on for Britain's top cats
A leading feline charity has launched a campaign to find the nation's greatest cats. The Rescue Cat of the Year Awards 2006 are to recognise the country's bravest, most inspirational and friendly cats.
Launched by the Cats' Protection Charity, the awards are divided into four categories: the Hero Cat award; the Ultimate Survivor; Best Friend; and the Most Incredible Story.
TV design celebrities Justin Ryan and Colin McAllister have pledged their support to the awards, arguing that: "We believe that every cat deserves a second chance and that's exactly what the Rescue Cat of the Year Awards and Cats Protection is all about.
"Lending our support is our way of giving something back to all the country's rescue cats."
Pet owners who own a cat rescued as a stray or adopted from a rescue centre will be able to nominate their pet for an award.
For owners who have adopted a cat from a rescue centre, pet insurance can help with the costs of insuring the continued development of the cat's health.
