16 July 2007  Pet insurance 'can pay for itself'
A pet insurance policy can pay for itself in terms of what is on offer with the policy, a lecturer and writer has suggested.

Tracie Laliberte-Bailey said she began to consider buying pet insurance following a payout for medical care when her puppy sustained an eye injury.

Writing in the Sun Chronicle, she claims that not only can some forms of pet cover provide peace of mind for owners, but they can be economical when it comes to shelling out for regular and unexpected veterinary treatment.

"My research revealed that there are a handful of companies that offer a number of different plans from routine care coverage to life-threatening illness protection," she concluded.

In related news, last week saw the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals suggest that buying pet insurance for a loved one was not a luxury product - but all part of being a responsible pet owner.
