24 August 2005 PDSA announces PetCheck Week
The veterinary charity PDSA has announced that it will be organising its third PDSA National PetCheck Week to run from September 26th until October 2nd. During the week, the PDSA will be offering a free health check for pets at their local vet or a PDSA PetAid hospital, according to K9 Magazine.
Last year, as many as 750 practices took part in the scheme, with even more anticipated to participate this year.
The importance of the week was highlighted last year as just under half of all animals checked had at least one health problem.
Not only is it a reminder that pets should be checked by a vet, but it also shows how important pet insurance can be.
Richard Hooker, Chief Veterinary Surgeon at PDSA, said: "We hope that PDSA National PetCheck Week 2005 will be bigger and better than ever following last year's success.
"The week provides an ideal opportunity for owners not currently registered with a vet, to do so before their pet needs treatment."
