06 October 2005 Dog returned to owner after 6 months
A dog owner is celebrating after being reunited with his pet Jack Russell some six months after losing her. Thomas Hutton, who lives on Tyneside, was delighted to hear his dog, Belle, had been found 300 miles away from home after being identified by a vet in Ipswich, BBC News reports.
It is suspected that people travelling through the area where Mr Hutton lives had taken Belle after she had gone out through the front gate of his home.
The ease with which his dog went missing shows how important pet insurance can be, as it can cover costs associated with finding lost pets.
In the case of Mr Hutton, he put up missing posters and registered her disappearance on a special website.
It turned out that Belle had been sold to a new owner, who took her to a vet that eventually found her microchip.
Speaking of Belle's long-awaited return, Mr Hutton said: "It was like an electric shock going through the body, just excitement at the thought of getting her back again."
