24 January 2007 British pets 'pampered' over Christmas
Pet owners in the UK pampered their animals with gifts and cards over the Christmas holiday, a pet insurance provider has reported.A survey conducted by PDSA Petsurance reveals that 92 per cent of owners bought their pet a present over the holidays, with 30 per cent sending a card and 62 per cent providing a Christmas stocking.
Liza Randall of PDSA, commented that many British families would not consider leaving pets out of their annual Christmas celebrations, but urged owners to buy their pets a more practical gift.
"PDSA urges pet owners to make a new year's resolution to invest in a quality pet insurance policy," she said.
"It is one of the best presents you can buy your pet and could mean the difference between life and death," she added.
PDSA is the leading veterinary charity in the UK and is the largest private employer of qualified vets in Europe.
